Teaching Little Hands: Encouraging Improv

All posts

A couple of years ago, I began a collection of videos designed for piano teachers working with young elementary students.

Today I wanted to share one of my favorite videos from the series where my student Allison improvises with me.

This video shows how beneficial it is to pursue improv with even very young students, to allow them to take chances and be okay with mistakes at the piano.

The “Teaching Little Hands” series is available in the Insights library in Entrada, and it covers topics such as counting and tapping, hand-over-hand arpeggios, the basic vibrato motion, and the quiet hand.

Teachers report how Entrada supports their professional development in both their own playing and how to guide their students to achieve outstanding results with a whole-body, three-dimensional approach to playing the piano.
